The Time for a Barnton Bypass is Now

Residents in Barnton tell me that they don’t feel safe letting their children play in the street any more. Residents of Dutton and Sutton Weaver don’t go to Northwich any more, because of the traffic on the A553. It’s clear that the time for a Barnton bypass is long overdue.

So why is it then that both our Labour run council in CWAC, and our Conservative Councillors and MP are all still championing a second bridge at Winnington which will feed straight into the existing road network?

There’s a total refusal to listen to residents on this issue, despite the ruinous affect it’s having on so many people’s lives. The council has allowed thousands of new homes to be built in Winnington. All this housebuilding across from a bridge which, last year, structural engineers said had a 5 year lifespan left at most.

An unprecedented amount of land in Northwich has been sold to developers, and the council has not made provision for the building of new schools, GPs, or road infrastructure. Instead they have allowed developers to profit from the misery of existing residents, who will suffer gridlock and over-stretched public services.
